DM Conducts Surprise Inspection of CHC Satpuli, Expresses Anger Over Negligence in Health Services

Action ordered against three absent staff members including the Medical Officer In-Charge; DM hands over charge of the health center to the CMO
Instructions issued for regular monitoring of high-risk pregnancies and ensuring 100% vaccination of children
Directions given to maintain updated OPD records, take action against absent staff, and improve healthcare arrangements
District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria conducted a surprise inspection of the Community Health Center (CHC) Satpuli on Wednesday and reviewed healthcare services, medical arrangements, and official records in detail. Finding several arrangements unsatisfactory during the inspection, the District Magistrate expressed strong displeasure and directed the concerned officials and health workers to take immediate corrective action.
During the inspection, the CCTV cameras installed in the hospital were found to be non-functional. Additionally, the concerned officials were unable to provide details related to biometric attendance. Expressing displeasure, the District Magistrate instructed that the CCTV cameras and biometric machines be repaired immediately and that employee attendance be maintained in a transparent and regular manner.
During the inspection, the Medical Officer In-Charge along with three other staff members were found absent. The District Magistrate directed that necessary action be taken against the absent and late-arriving employees and stated that negligence in healthcare services would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She took possession of the attendance register and instructed that the financial and administrative charge of the health center be kept under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
The District Magistrate also inspected the OPD register. It was found that complete details regarding treatment provided to patients, medical advice, and medicines prescribed were not being properly recorded. She expressed strong displeasure and directed that all medical details related to every patient must be compulsorily entered in the register to ensure transparency and systematic treatment procedures.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the overall arrangements of the hospital, the District Magistrate immediately instructed the Chief Medical Officer over the phone to reach CHC Satpuli without delay, conduct a detailed inquiry into all irregularities and arrangements, and submit a report.
During the visit, the District Magistrate also inspected the dispensary, laboratory, and labor room. At the time of inspection of the labor room, health department staff failed to present updated data related to high-risk pregnant women and ANC (Antenatal Care/check-ups). The District Magistrate directed that detailed records of all high-risk pregnant women be prepared and regular health check-ups and continuous monitoring be ensured. She stated that any negligence in maternal and child healthcare services would be considered serious.
During inspection of the vaccination register, its maintenance was also found unsatisfactory, and several records were not updated. The District Magistrate directed the health department to ensure 100% vaccination of all children up to the prescribed age from birth onward. She stated that no child should remain deprived of vaccination, and for this purpose, a door-to-door verification campaign should be conducted to prepare a list of missed children. She also directed that all records be maintained regularly and updated on the online portal in a timely manner.
The District Magistrate stated that better arrangements in healthcare institutions, timely treatment, cleanliness, and accountability are among the administration’s highest priorities. She instructed health department officials to make all systems effective and organized to provide better healthcare facilities to the general public.
On this occasion, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Satpuli Rekha Arya, Dr. Ananta, and other healthcare workers were present.
