In such a situation, the career of a tourist guide is proving to be very attractive and profitable nowadays. This field has the potential to generate more employment.
Ten-day free Heritage tour guide training has started in Pauri under the aegis of Tourism Department, Govt of Uttarakhand and Tourism and Hospitality Skill Counselling. The training was inaugurated by Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan.
In the inaugural ceremony, the District Magistrate told the trainees that if they want to become good guides, they should love the forest, ecosystem and also be a good photographer and ask them to complete their studies. He said that trainees can also do work related to restaurant, rafting or adventure activities along with guiding. He wished all the trainees the best for their bright future.
In the inaugural ceremony, District Tourism Development Officer Shri Prakash Singh Khatri administered the oath of “Travel for Life” to all the trainees. “Travel for Life” is a global movement towards tourism, inspired by the mission LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment) envisioned by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The movement seeks to inspire both tourists and tourism businesses to adopt measures directly aimed at conservation.
Additional Director of Tourism Department Poonam Chand also joined online. She said that the coming future belongs to heritage tourism. For this, it is important for the youth to have in-depth knowledge of the history and historical places of their area. Poonam Chand interacts with all the trainees and takes information about their background, interests and occupation.
