Neelkanth Mahadev Temple

Just 32 kms from Rishikesh via Barrage and 22 kms via Ram Jhoola, this place abounds in religious fervour, mythological significance and picturesque surroundings. According to a legend, this place derivedits name from Lord Shiva. It is believed that it was here that Lord Shiva consumed the venom, which emanated during the ‘Samudra Manthan’. Due to this, His throat became blue in colour, thus giving Shiva the nameof Neelkanth. Centuries old temples here reserve in their fold the celestial aura and legendary ambience. At 926 meters, amidst three valleys (Vishnukoot, Brahmakoot and Manikoot) and on the confluence of Madhumati and Pankaja rivers awaits Neelkanth Mahadev. Neelkanth Mahadev is 22 kms from Swargashram. A 12 kms trekkable road is surrounded by dense forests, a sight every trekker would love to behold. Accommodation is available at the Irrigation & Forest Rest Houses.

Shri Koteshwar Mahadev Temple

Situated at an elevation of 1428 mts., this temple has a great following among childless couples. The temple houses a Shivlinga and is surrounded by the Himalayan ranges in the east, Haridwar in the west and the Siddha Peeth Medanpuri Devi temple in the south. Legend has it that a village woman inadverdently hit a shiv Linga while digging. Divine voices were then heard, directing the people to construct a temple dedicated to Shiva. Accordingly, the Koteshwar Mhadev temple was erected. It is believed that childless couples who chant the Mahamrityunjaya mantra during the whole month of Shravana with full faith & devotion are blessed by the Lord and their wishes are granted.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple

This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Is is 36 kms from Lansdowne, the headquarter of ‘Garhwal Rifle’. Surrounded by thick forests of Deodar & Pine, it is an ideal place for those who seek for beauty in nature. During Shivratri, a special worship is held. The temple committee provides a dharamshala for accommodation.
